To push the boundaries of molecular analysis, enabling impactful knowledge-based decisions in healthcare and sustainability without compromise.

Our ability to analyse biological samples and form molecular insights is dependent on the capabilities of the analysis techniques available today. Improvements in molecular detection technologies will generate better knowledge about biological systems that can be used for improved therapies and diagnostics. At Aplex Bio, we develop solutions to push the boundries of sensitivity, specificity and multiplexity without compromises.

Jonas Wallberg

Chairman

Jonas Wallberg is the chair of the board and is a professional angel investor and board member with a PhD from Linköping University and an MBA from Stockholm School of Economics. He has a background from several management position in IT and Telecom industry and also held important roles at Vinnova (Sweden’s innovation agency) and the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries. He brings important experience and network to the team.

Umear Naseem

Founder, CEO & Board Member

Umear Naseem is a nanochemist, scientist and inventor with extensive R&D and leadership experience from deep-tech start-ups ranging from the fields of nanomedicine & DNA sequencing to nanomaterials based solar cells.

For over 10 years, he has held various positions in deep-tech start-ups and has successfully managed high-risk projects with generation of valuable inventions and patents. He has been part of small teams that have evolved into larger organisations, and loves challenging state-of-the-art in science.

Prof. Mats Nilsson

Board Member

Mats Nilsson is professor of biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University and Director of the Spatial and Single Cell Biology platform at the Science for Life Laboratory. He is a globally renowned expert in developing cutting-edge technologies for disease surveillance and molecular diagnostics.

He has pioneered padlock probes and their applications in areas of genomics, cancer, infectious diagnostics and spatial biology. He is the author of more than 150 scientific articles, published in journals including Science, Nature Genetics, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Methods, PNAS, Analytical Chemistry, and Nucleic Acids Research.

Prof. Nilsson is the co-founder of Olink AB, Q-linea AB, ParAllele Bioscience Inc., Halo Genomics AB, EMPE Diagnostics AB, and Cartana AB.

Rolf Ehrnström

Board Member

Rolf Ehrnström is an independent of the Company and independent of major shareholders board member since 2024. He holds a M.Sc. in Biochemistry & Biotechnology from Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. He has held scientific and Product Development management roles in LKB/Pharmacia Biotech/Amersham-Pharmacia Biotech. He was co-founder and VP R&D of Gyros AB, CVP/CSO of Dako-Agilent A/S, Boardmember of Biomonitor A/S.
